2019, a year of launching dramatically
Yacht design is changing faster than at any time since Noah’s ark. Dramatic yachts that were unbuildable a mere ten years ago are now emerging from shipyards, heralding an era of extraordinary development. With 93 metre Lady S, 92 metre Aquarius, 86 metre Sunrays and 84 metre Savannah superyacht, Edmiston has become the central agent for charter. On this spread we highlight some of 2019’s new launches, showcasing ideas, designs and technology enabled by the world’s most enlightened Owners.
TIS
111M / 366FT, LÜRSSEN
No list of the biggest yachts launched in any year would be complete without one or two from the inimitable Lürssen shipyard. Styled by Winch Design, TIS is imposing externally and extraordinary inside. An exercise in elegant opulence to rival the grand palaces of Europe and Russia.
BRAVO EUGENIA
109M / 358FT, OCEANCO
Bravo Eugenia was actually delivered in late 2018 but was not on the yachting scene until this year. She is the first yacht to benefit from Oceanco’s new sustainable technology partnership using advanced engineering to create a customised eco operating system.
DRAGON
80M / 262FT, PALUMBO
Palumbo’s Columbus brand unveiled a very impressive first big yacht. The design is centred around the Owner’s apartment with a big private lounge and easy access to the helipad. A large beach club and all manner of platforms and balconies make this an ambitious debut.
EXCELLENCE
80M / 262FT, ABEKING AND RASMUSSEN
Conceived by Winch Design, Excellence is arguably the most dramatic style statement since the launch of A. The enormous glass panels, radical hull shape and integrated technology are the basis of a concept that is not so much a step into the unknown as a giant leap.
ARTEFACT
80M / 262FT, NOBISKRUG
At 2,990 gross tons, Artefact is the world’s highest-volume 80-metre yacht. The superstructure is an innovative composite construction enabling 750 square metres of glass weighing 58 tons. Hybrid power links generators, batteries, azimuthings and solar panels. Nobiskrug do like a challenge.
SYZYGY 818
77M / 253FT FEADSHIP
Syzygy references a rare astrological event and 818 signifies prosperity in Chinese numerology. The breakthrough that built the yacht is a remarkable development in glass technology that Feadship has integrated into the superstructure. Yet another Feadship first.
ATTILA
64M / 209FT, SANLORENZO
Sanlorenzo builds some of the finest mid size yachts, full of innovation, great layout ideas and Italian design style. So the idea was more of the same, only bigger. With an astonishing list of features including contemporary South American interior design, Atilla is certainly different.
