French Riviera reopens
Summer charters are on the way in the Mediterranean's playground for the superyacht set
With news that some beach clubs and restaurants in the ultra-chic resort of St Tropez are welcoming guests back, it looks like our summer dreams are about to come true, albeit with a few social distancing measures in place.
The legendary Club 55, situated on the famous Pampelonne Beach in St Tropez, has already opened up again, with the nearby jet-set favourite Nikki Beach throwing its reopening party on 25 June. Think quaffing Champagne as you pose up a storm on a plush daybed as the DJ spins the best summer tunes.
The French Riviera, which stretches from St Tropez in the west all the way to the Italian border, passing by the resorts of Cannes, Antibes, Nice and Monaco, is as much en vogue today as it’s ever been.
Ever since Coco Chanel and her celebrity pals spent long summers in their villas and Belle Époque mansions overlooking glistening seas, soft white sands and secluded bays in the 1930s, reserving a private sea-view cabana has been part of the Riviera experience.
The grand dame of the Riviera, the hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, between Nice and Cannes, will also reopen on 1 July and has some of the most exclusive cabanas of all the luxury resorts, or you might prefer to socially distance from other visitors with a romantic toes-in-the-sand dinner with your own private butler.
Cap-Eden-Roc and the St Tropez hotspots join other fashionable seaside hangouts such as the white sand terraces of Plage Keller and Eden Plage Mala – where Paradise is found – located a little further along the Cote D’Azur coastline, which are also open, signalling that charters in the sun-kissed French Riviera are on the horizon.
It’s time to start planning your wardrobe for the Cote D’Azur’s best beach clubs and timeless resorts, where the superyacht set are ready to wake from their lockdown slumber for the most A-list bar hop imaginable.
