The top 5 destinations for your post-lockdown yacht charter

Here are some of our favourite yacht charter destinations for when lockdown is lifted.

Even if you’ve embraced lockdown life and have relished the chance to slow down, we’re fairly sure that by now you’ll be itching to get moving again. Home may be where the heart is, but for many of us the call of the sea is simply too hard to resist.

But where will you go, once you’re allowed? The beauty of a superyacht charter is that it can transport you to some of the most remote and tranquil places in the world to ease you into life post lockdown.

Are you dreaming of dropping anchor off a desert island in the Caribbean? We’ve got you covered. Want to trek through lush rainforest in Costa Rica, with just the sound of tropical birds for company or glide through forgotten fjords in Scandinavia in peace? Or perhaps you want to ramp up the fun and test out the water toys under blue skies in the Adriatic. We can help on all those fronts too.

For many of us, reuniting with our family and friends post lockdown will be a priority and on a yacht charter you can do this with the peace of mind of knowing the environment can be safeguarded and will be immaculately clean.

Whatever you are looking for in your post lockdown charter, we have the perfect yacht charter destination for you.

Greece Yacht Charter

If you’re looking for a destination to yacht charter, Greece has it all. With 6,000 islands and islets, of which only 227 are inhabited, a yacht charter in the Greek Islands offers infinite cruising possibilities.

This corner of the East Mediterranean to which all western culture owes a debt, is a place that wears its heritage with pride while moving elegantly with the times, combining the classical with the contemporary to beautiful effect, and all beneath cloudless, sapphire skies.

From the old-world charm of the sugar-cube towns and villages that speckle the coast between towering cliffs and staggering sea arches, to the lush interiors whose pine-clad hilltops beckon, and the ancient sites rich in Greek mythology, it’s a land just waiting to be explored.

“Wisdom”, as Socrates so eloquently put it, “begins with wonder” so why not start planning your Greece dream yacht charter holiday with us today.

Adriatic Yacht Charter

This part of the world is now firmly on the map as a desirable destination for discerning travellers. And it is truly stunning. Croatia alone has over 3,600 miles of coastline and 1,100 islands, while tiny Montenegro has some of Europe’s most beautiful beaches and pristine nature.

Drift along and admire the breath-taking views on every side: buildings of creamy stone that turn a rosy pink as the sun sinks into the sea, forested hills and ancient monuments that tell the stories of past rulers. When you step ashore you’ll find twisty cobbled streets, buzzy cafés, mouth-watering cuisine, magical music and an intriguing culture.

Norway Yacht Charter

Home to some of the world’s most spectacular scenery, the fjords stretching up Norway’s western coast are sailing heaven. Weave in and out of the bays, gazing at the green mountains rising up out of the water all around. Land to hike or bike along the shores whenever you fancy. Drink in the awe-inspiring views: glaciers, blossoming orchards tumbling down hillsides, glassy waters and ancient villages that seem to hold secrets in every stone.

In the UNESCO-protected Nærøyfjord the mountains reach 1,500 metres up to the sky on each side. Then there is the exceptional beauty of the Songnefjord, the world’s longest fjord, which reaches all the way back to the glaciers and Norway’s highest mountains. Don’t miss the Hardangerfjord, known as the Queen of the Fjords, which is dotted with villages and orchards, all bumping up against the majestic Folgefonna glacier.

En route, stop in the picturesque port towns of Bergen, Vik and Geiranger. Though it’s now the second largest city in Norway, Bergen’s harbour, lined with colourful former merchants’ houses, looks much as it has done for centuries.

Nestled deep in the fjords, the former Viking settlement of Vik, on the southern shore of the Songnefjord, offers a variety of attractions, shops and cafés within walking distance of the port. Try the locally produced Gamalost cheese – its roots go back to the Viking Age.

The resort town of Geiranger is a magnet for outdoor adventure enthusiasts; almost every type of activity is available here. For such a tiny place there’s a surprising number of good restaurants and cafés.

Bahamas Yacht Charter

Most visitors to the Bahamas never make it further than Nassau and Paradise Island. But with over 700 islands, secluded cays, a Fountain of Youth, the largest blue hole in the world and near-perfect weather all year round, these islands have so much more to offer. The Bahamas are a beach and watersports mecca, and there’s no easier, more luxurious way to travel here than by yacht.

The Andros Barrier Reef – the world’s third largest – is a dazzling underwater adventure for any diver looking for a challenge. If it’s the beaches you’re after, set sail for Eleuthera and Harbour Island and wiggle your toes in the warm pink sand. Swim with pigs in the Exumas, or explore the mangrove trails in Lucayan National Park.

If you’re cruising the islands on Boxing Day, Junkanoo is a festival of colourful parades and parties that fizz with the energy of the Rio carnival and New Orleans’ Mardi Gras. So savour your Bahama Mama rum drinks in your sundeck’s hot tub, enjoy a family fish fry on the beach or tap your feet to some traditional rake ‘n’ scrape on Cat Island. In the Bahamas, there are a thousand ways to take it easy.

Costa Rica Yacht Charter

Costa Rica is one of the world’s most biologically diverse countries, so nature lovers will be in seventh heaven here. This tropical paradise is filled with beautiful lakes, palm-fringed beaches and jungle that’s just begging to be explored.

Surfers take note: the sandy shores of Costa Rica offer some of the best waves on the planet, along with much smaller crowds than the world’s more famous surfing spots. For the biggest breaks head to Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean coast: it’s a vibrant seaside town with fabulous waves – but only surfing pros should attempt them.

For the most accessible diving and surfing spots head to Playa Naranjo or Playa Grande on the north Pacific Coast. Costa Rica has some spectacular dive sites. Cocos Island is a world-renowned spot, and arguably the best in Costa Rica, where you can feast your eyes on red-lipped batfish, marlin, sailfish, sharks, and whales.

Another top spot is Cano Island, which has been named one of the Earth’s most biodiverse regions by National Geographic. The reef life and sea creatures here are sure to dazzle you.
