36.50m 120 ft | 1936 / 2014 | 6 Guests | 3 Cabins | 7 Crew
The story of this elegant vintage yacht begins in 1936, when Sir Arthur Young, one of Scotland's leading yachtsmen, commissioned the legendary Alfred Mylne to design her.
Built and launched the following year by the Clydeside yard of Alexander Stephen & Sons, she was an immediate success on the racing circuit, and went on to provide her owner and guests with many pleasurable years of cruising.
After Sir Young's death in the summer of 1949, THENDARA yacht was sold and disappeared to Greece, later being seen in Italian waters. In 1993, a new owner commissioned Southampton Yacht Services to ship her from Italy to England, where a full refit was carried out. This restoration has seen her sail into the new century as a truly elegant example of living yacht history.
Her interior design sees a main saloon complete with a formal dining area. Finished in mahogany panelling, there is an abundance of charming and completely original Edwardian features. Three elegant en-suite cabins accommodate up to six guests in true comfort and style, including two doubles and a twin. THENDARA yacht can also accommodate up to seven crew members in three cabins, including the Captain’s cabin.
On deck, an additional dining option, sheltered or not, can be set up.
As with most of Mylne’s designs, the engine room is particularly spacious, and benefits from a steel bulkhead fore and aft. Unusually in a yacht of this vintage, there is room enough for all modern amenities and systems, including water maker and air conditioning units.
Providing an outstanding combination of speed, comfort and grace on the water, THENDARA offers a unique opportunity to join the thrilling world of classic yacht racing.
