Looking to buy, sell or charter? Come to Edmiston
Edmiston has got off to a flying start in 2021, with sales up on this time last year and a promising number of charter bookings, spelling good news for the yacht industry
The outlook for 2021 is positive, with Edmiston having already sold nine yachts this year – six of which were in-house deals – compared with seven yacht sales (four of which were in-house deals) for the same period last year.
Edmiston is also delighted to have represented a third of all yacht sales in the 50m+ category across the industry, having sold three of out the nine yachts in this size bracket, and the global market has already surpassed 2019 figures in terms of yacht sales over 30m for the sale period.
The biggest success story so far this year is the sale of 55m Amels luxury motor yacht 4YOU, which we sold in just 51 days.
The seven new central agency yachts to join the brokerage fleet so far this year include the 48.2m ketch-rigged sailing yacht MORNING GLORY, which is hoping to benefit from our successful record in the 40m+ sailing yacht brokerage market, with Edmiston representing a third of sales in this category in 2020.
Another exciting addition to our sales fleet is MOON SAND, a 44m custom Feadship motor yacht. Edmiston is known for its strong track record in selling Feadships. In fact, we have sold more Feadships than any other brokerage company with one more, the 43m FULL MOON, already sold this year.
In terms of charter, the future also looks bright, with our teams currently fielding lots of enquiries and taking on bookings.
In 2020 our charter fleet surpassed all expectations, with the length of charter bookings up 11% on the previous year, showing a growing trend of how charter guests are looking to get away for longer.
With vaccine rollouts in the UK, Europe and the US going full steam ahead, plus the loosening of restrictions at home and abroad on the horizon, we expect to see the upsurge in charter bookings continue.
Alex Koersvelt, commercial director at Edmiston, says: “Despite the obvious challenges, we had a strong year in 2020 across both sales and charter and we have seen client confidence returning, which is good news for both Edmiston and the global market as a whole. Looking ahead, we are optimistic about the markets for the year ahead in terms of sales, charter and new construction.”
