Get a new yacht delivered in a fraction of the time
If you want to buy a new yacht, you can cut the delivery time a lot by buying a yacht that has been built on speculation of a buyer, but which still promises supreme engineering and build quality
If you are in the market to buy a brand-new yacht then you probably know that the wait time between commission and delivery can be an average of 3-4 years.
However, if you're not keen to wait that long, then there is another option: buying a yacht that is already in build but is yet to find an Owner. This option will slash the wait time massively and you may find you are in a position to negotiate as shipyards are looking to sell.
Here are some of the best yachts currently in build, which come with a short delivery time.
If time is really of the essence then Heesen TRITON is available for immediate delivery. This 50m yacht, designed by Clifford Denn, is the second model to be released under Heesen’s new Steel Class series and is a true bluewater yacht with a displacement steel hull. HEESEN TRITON offers incredible interior space at under 500GT and comes with lots of wishlist amenities, such as a 98 square metre sun deck with Jacuzzi, a vast aft deck with partially enclosed sky lounge and a cool-as-a-cucumber beach club. This is a good opportunity to take delivery and do changes over winter to ensure she's exactly how you’d like her to be for summer 2021. Or you could always go to the Caribbean now…
This support vessel would add enormous flexibility for adventurous yacht owners, acting as a helipad or tender storage. The 55.5m vessel comes with a dive centre, plus a submersible hangar and there's even room for off-road vehicles. With a range of 5000nm at a speed of 10 knots and with accommodation for six across three cabins, you could even use her as your sole yacht.
Available for delivery in autumn 2021, with exteriors by Tim Heywood and interiors by Andrew Winch, AMELS 242 is the biggest yacht currently being built on spec. With a yacht of this size (70m+) you could normally expect a lead time of three years, so you are effectively shaving off half the wait time. And your comparatively short wait time will be worth it as the yacht comes with some amazing features, including an Owner's deck, a 75 square metre wellness centre and six big cabins. And that's not all: certain interior choices can still be made by the buyer, meaning you get the benefit of a short lead time as well as an element of customisation on a proven platform.
Delivery of hull no.3 from the Diamond 145 line is expected in 2021 and combines the expert lines of Giorgio Cassetta with the light-filled interiors that Benetti is known for. It comes with five big cabins and a full-beam main deck Owner's cabin, plus there's a great use of the space forward on the upper deck that incorporates a pool and plush guest seating with panoramic views.
Also with delivery in 2021, so a much reduced lead time, the Sanlorenzo 500, an evolution of the Italian yard's 460Exp, comes with a main deck full-beam master, room to land a small helicopter aft and increased space in the garage for toys. The SANLORENZO 500 also comes with an understated contemporary interior and an on-deck spa.
