The best yachts for working from home and home schooling
With more freedom than ever to work where you want, here are some of the best yachts for charter and sale where you can combine working life with down time in the utmost comfort
This has been a unique year, and one of the few positives is that we are now free to work from anywhere in the world, so why limit yourself to your land-based home when you can work remotely and holiday at the same time?
And, if schools close again, there’s nothing to say you can’t home school your children while schooling them in the wider world as you travel by yacht. Swimming lessons were never this much fun at school.

The 93m 2019 Feadship LADY S is an impeccable yacht where working life and family time fuses seamlessly. The Master suite study is the perfect place to get your head down and afterwards you can reward yourself with a visit to the spa.
PE lessons can take place on the sports court, where you can play volleyball, basketball, football and badminton – there’s even a golf tee and simulator. And think of all those educational programmes and wildlife documentaries the kids can watch on the big screen at the on-the-water IMAX Dolby cinema – the first in the world.
On SAVANNAH, an 83.5m 2015 Feadship, the underwater observation lounge is a ready-built classroom for marine biology, while the luxurious light-filled office is an inspiring place to work. Once you’ve clocked off, unwind with a swim in the 30ft swimming pool.
PLANET NINE, one of the world’s foremost explorer yachts, really pushes the boundaries of how far from the office you can be. If you need space while you work then you’re in luck, PLANET NINE comes with a 3,000 sq. ft Master deck with its own study and a private terrace for all those much-needed coffee breaks.
The brand-new 77m global explorer LA DATCHA can also take you to some of the most remote destinations in supreme luxury, indeed it is designed to offer 40 days of autonomous cruising. There are two helicopters on board, plus a submersible, for out-of-this-world geography field trips and there is also an observation lounge where kids can whale watch in the warmth. For days when you really must work, an enclosed area off from the sky lounge provides a private sanctuary with large windows for views over your chosen location.
On ARBEMA, a 50m 2008 Ortona-Navi-built yacht (refitted in 2020), there’s a smart office in the Master suite and when you’re not working you can keep in tip top condition thanks to the onboard qualified yoga instructor, dive instructor and triathlete personal trainer.
A few crew members are also able to fill in as teachers like on board the 46m CMB yachts-built MYSTIC. There is also an office space in the Owner's suite providing the ultimate working space.
The impeccably restored 50m Camper and Nicholsons yacht MALAHNE has an Art Deco-style office, fit for a statesman, with lots of varnished wood and a pair of sofas. Her period interiors once hosted the great and good of Hollywood, including Elizabeth Taylor and Frank Sinatra, and the old-world sophistication permeates.
Aboard the 59.1m 2001 Oceano yacht HELIOS, the full-beam Master suite comes with a study and heated marble floors for an added touch of glamour, plus there is an open gym for lunchtime work outs.
For those looking for a sailing yacht for their work-from-home charter, then the 86m 2016 Vitters and Oceanco ketch AQUIJO will no doubt appeal. With the kind of amenities one would normally expect on a motor yacht – including a beach club with an ocean-view Jacuzzi – AQUIJO yacht also has a lovely office/library on the main deck.
